Aaroesund Marina and fishing habour - the perl in Lillebælt
At the entrance of Haderslev Fjord lies Aarøsund Marina and fishing harbour. You can moor at the commercial harbour or inside the marina. The harbour is known as the Pearl of the Little Belt, probably because of its scenic view on the island of Ærø, the Little Belt and Haderslev Fjord. Earlier, this used to be a stop of the ferry to Assens and a busy place of departure, as well as an important stop on the postal route towards the south. Now, only the ferry connecting Aarø to the main land frequents the harbour. The harbour building “The Pearl” contains the harbour office and sailor’s lounge, a small outdoor kitchen, as well as toilets and bath facilities.
On the harbour premises lies a cosy restaurant, Fiskerhuset, surrounded by the wonderful maritime atmosphere. There is also a harbour barbeque/ice-cream parlor and Café, where you can stock up on basic necessities, as well as ordering bread for the morning. Aarøsund Badehotel is open again, and its beautiful buildings add to the atmosphere of the harbour nonetheless.
The harbour has a good boat ramp for smaller fishing vessels, a slipway, as well as a shipyard.
