Omoe Harbour
Omø Kirkehavn – Yachtharbour in the Great Belt
Omø Yacht Harbour is one of the most visited harbours in the Great Belt. Its location close to The Blue Highway, the waterway close to the Smålandshavet, makes the harbour an obvious choice for a stopover on the way North and South through the Belt.
The island is well visited not only due to its location. The beautiful natural scenery, the rich bird life and the old farmers’ town attract up to 4500 visiting sailors annually.
On Omø there are still active commercial fishermen, who contribute to the maritime atmosphere. The ferry docks here and in the past it used to transport church goers til Skælskør – which explains the name Kirkehavn, church harbour. The name stuck, even after Omø got its own church.
Sailors can use the service buildings with bathrooms, toilets, washing machine and dry tumbler. There is a barbeque area with tables and benches, as well as a child friendly beach close to the harbour. Here you will also find a modern playground and a beach volleyball court.
If you want to explore the island or go shopping in the nearby town about 1km from the harbour, you can rent bikes at the kiosk. Here you can also purchase basic groceries.
In 2016 the harbour will be renovated with new jetties and an improvement of the service buildings with new toilets and baths.
