Gilleleje Harbour

Gilleleje Harbour - Zealand’s largest commercial fishing harbour

In Gilleleje Harbour the maritime ambience is intense. Few places have an equally intense maritime atmosphere. The harbour environment offers a peculiar view, cluttered with cutters, fishing nets. and ships on slipways. The old storage buildings are converted into restaurants and shops, and with the harbour being so close to town, the shopping opportunities are manifold.

The harbour is divided, keeping the marina quiet and peacefully away from the always busy commercial port. After the storm Bodil in 2013, the harbour has been renovated for several million kroner and can now boast of entirely new jetties, electricity and water. Also, an entirely new sanitary building has been built.

During the summer season, part of the commercial harbour becomes part of the marina, so you have a chance to lie close to restaurants and other conveniences. And during the summer months, part of the commercial harbour is open for yachts, offering visiting sailors mooring close to the restaurants etc.

Gilleleje Harbour has all the modern facilities with space for 220 boats. Market days are a great attraction on Thursdays and Saturdays during the summer season. You should also visit the Lighthouse Museum in Nakkehoved, Gilleleje Museum with its ship halls and the museum’s Isefjord boat Vilhelm, which today is anchored at the canal in Gilleleje Harbour.
